Basic animations

Animating on the computer is so simple now. I remember when we had to post every little bit on a DOS program to get the graphic to turn out halfway correct. Now with animating software (flash being the most popular at the moment) anyone with a basic and seminew computer can make a flash animation. One that we worked on can be seen on the www.nova.edu/ocean front page on the upper left hand side.

Whoops..

Well silly me, I got off tangent and went to showing off my video instead of talking about the change in technologies. I found a great website that helps teachers know all the basics and what is coming around the corner. You can find it at http://www.lab404.com/media/. It has really nice definitions and easy links to follow to see examples of all the different types of media found on the web. Student will like it for its colorful and easy access.

Understand the characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of different media

Well when you look at the white pages on znet you can see how fast technology is advancing. The one item I wait to see in the public (at a reasonable price) is the IR keyboard. This little gizmo makes any flat space a working keyboard using Infrared and laser technology allows you to have a full blown keyboard anywhere. No more fighting to get the laptop on airplane's tray table anymore!

Anyhow. I did learn how to create videos with music attached! You can find my work on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk-d6aZ_IMI. It is in process right now but should be up shortly. I was going to direct link it to this blog, but that gadget is under construction.

Enjoy!

Hi all and welcome the MissyD's blog. I've been working on the classwork while travelling up and down the east coast for work visiting various universities and colleges talking about marine science and our current research projects. As I posted at the beginning of the course, I've been working on new technological skills while implementing leadership protocols.

My First posting is about the terms hypermedia and clipmedia. I would recommend the following paper to see how to integrate these media into websites.

"Integrating Temporal Media and Open Hypermediaon the World Wide Web"
by Niels Olof Bouvin & René Schade

http://www8.org/w8-papers/3c-hypermedia-video/integrating/integrating.html

This paper introduces the Mimicry system that allows authors and readers to link to and from temporal media (video and audio) on the Web. The links created are stored externally, allowing for links to and from resources not owned by the (link) author. It is quite an interesting paper.
